Question

I'm not sure if this is allowed to be posted, but I noticed this Ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/American-Girl-Sa...QQcmdZViewItem . Does anyone know if the seller is correct about it being for Samantha? Mods, delete this if its not allowed.

That looks more like Bitty Bear to me. Sam does have (had?) a Mohair Teddy Bear, but that doesn't look like it.

Someone emailed the seller saying that it is for BB (I'm pretty sure they are right) but the seller INSISTS that it is Samantha's...

Unless they have drastically changed the mohair teddy, the one in that auction is not Samantha's. Check out Curt's site--the mohair one there doesn't look at all like this one.

Nope that's a bitty alright. Look for Samanthas bear on Curts web site:

[THUMB] http://www.curtdanhauser.com/AG_Collecting/Sam.html [/THUMB]

It's under Accessories.

For some reason, I find that Bitty Bear to be *extra* cute! It must be PM. I can see the box is, but since we know it didn't come in that box, who's to say it's that old.

Here is Samantha's on the site.

No, that is a bitty bear. I have the mohair teddy bear from late 1980's and it looks very different from this bear. I know the auction is over by now, but the Samantha teddy bear I have looks nothing like this one!

Okay, that is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine, when you tell a seller that s/he is wrong and they say, well, whenI got it it was this way... urgh! I guess that would be embarrsiing...but some sellers are happy to have it corrected! I can just hear them in this little kid's voice, nah nahnuh nuh uh....

That is so much a bitty bear. I traded my PM AGOT9 because she looks to much like my MOlly, but the seller Igot it from was insiting that it was a Samantha, that the eyes had chnaged to grey, and that her daughter did have AGOT, but that it looked totally different..... I finally told her I wasn't trying to insult her ihtelligence, but I collect this things.....
Oh boy.

Given the number of fake AG items showing up on ebay these days, I would guess that this seller bought it on ebay as Samantha's bear, and just won't acknowledge that she was ripped off too. It's sold, so someone just paid way more for a Bitty Bear than they needed to.

I think most sellers are only happy to be corrected if they DIDN'T know what the said they were selling isn't what said they are selling.

On the other hand if they *ARE* trying to rip you off with a fake then they sometimes aren't so open to your comments.

Just from my experiences mostly though.
